Welcome!
It is a pleasure to welcome you and your child to 1st Grade at W.J Zahnow Elementary School! I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to teach your child and I promise to make this year fun and meaningful. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Emily Grohmann and this is my 5th year teaching at W.J. Zahnow Elementary School. I graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with my bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2012. In 2016, I compleed my master's degree in education. I like in Red Bud, Illinois, with my husband, Nick, and my son Jettson. I am a very outgoing person and I enjoy being outdoors, playing sports, and spending quality time with my family and friends.
At the first grade level, your child’s academic growth and development will excel in many different ways and I will provide them with the instruction they need to enhance their learning. It is my mission to assist your child in success. My philosophy is that all students can learn and achieve with the help of effective educators. This year I look forward to being that effective teacher for your student. My instruction will be engaging and interesting, to instill active learning amongst each child. Along with academics, I will plan activities to develop the student's creative skills and interests. I plan to make this academic year, educational as well as fun-filled for the students. I want them to leave my class confident, proud, and aspiring to learn more. I promise to encourage and challenge each student to always do their best!
I strongly encourage you to become involved in what your child is learning and to share any questions or concerns you may have. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time. I believe that it is essential that we work together to provide your child the very best education. I am so excited to begin the new school year and I look forward to working with you and your child very soon!
Sincerely,
Emily Grohmann
